Hola & welcome! I'm Lorena Álvarez and my journey in the mental health field has been guided by a passionate commitment to fostering accessibility and excellence in care, especially within marginalized BIPOC communities. With experience spanning medical, outpatient, and residential settings, I've had the privilege of working alongside adolescents, adults, and older adults on their paths to healing and growth.
My approach is deeply rooted in a holistic and trauma-informed perspective, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the pursuit of wellness. I believe in creating safe spaces where individuals can explore their stories, cultivate resilience, and rediscover their inherent strengths.
As a bilingual practitioner fluent in Spanish, I am dedicated to breaking down language barriers and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access the support they deserve. My practice is founded on empathy, cultural humility, and a genuine commitment to walking alongside each person on their unique journey toward healing and self-discovery.
I invite you to embark on this transformative journey with me, where together, we can navigate life's challenges, celebrate victories, and cultivate a sense of empowerment and authenticity. Your story matters, and I am here to listen, support, and empower you every step of the way.
At Esperanza Mental Wellness, the mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to all individuals struggling with mental health issues or wanting to strengthen their mental wellness. I believe that therapy should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation.
I take a client-centered approach to therapy, focusing on the unique needs and goals of each individual. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based techniques and tailor my approach holistically to best meet the needs of the clients.
I specialize in treating those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD & C-PTSD), relationship/communication issues, acculturation, immigration, grief, imposter syndrome, people pleasing, suicidality and sexual dysfunction. I also have expertise in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and those with chronic illness or disability.
